ABO-NCLE Masters Designations
ABO Master in Ophthalmic Optics Designation
The ABO Master in Ophthalmic Optics designation demonstrates to the public and colleagues that an individual has attained a superior level in ophthalmic dispensing. Any Optician who is currently Advanced Certified by the American Board of Opticianry for at least one complete three-year renewal cycle, and satisfies one of the following additional qualifications is eligible to apply for this designation.
* Have written two published ABO-approved Advanced Level III articles, or
* An ABO-approved speaker with two ABO-approved Advanced Level III Courses, or
* Have one published ABO-approved Advanced Level III article AND one ABO- approved Advanced Level III Course for which you are the ABO-approved Speaker.
Candidates are required to submit proof of their qualifications along with the completed application. The ABO Masters Committee will review the application and confirm the candidate’s qualifying criteria. Upon approval by this Committee, the title of ABO Master in Ophthalmic Optics (ABOM) is conferred and your certificate will be prepared and mailed. NCLE Master in Contact Lens Technology Designation
The NCLE Master in Contact Lens Technology designation demonstrates to the public and colleagues that an individual has attained a superior level in Contact Lens Technology. Any Certified Contact Lens Practitioner who is currently Advanced Certified by the National Contact Lens Examiners for at least one complete three-year renewal cycle, and satisfies one of the following additional qualifications is eligible to apply for this designation.
* Have written two published NCLE-approved Advanced Level III articles in a recognized Opticianry or Contact Lens educational publication, or
* An NCLE-approved Speaker with two NCLE-approved Advanced Level III Courses, or
* Have one published NCLE-approved Advanced Level III article AND one NCLE-approved Advanced Level III Course for which you are the NCLE-approved Speaker
*Has a membership as a Contact Lens Society of America Fellow

Master Designation Renewal Requirements
Those Advanced Certificants with a Masters Designation are required to comply with the Advanced Certification Renewal Requirements.
